Memory verse: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty. I will say of The Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; In Him will I trust." Psalms 91:1, 2
This was written not only for those in David's time, but for us today, and those living just before Christ return.
1. Read Psalms 91:1 this is God’s promise to us today. "He that dwelleth in the ____________ ____________ of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." What a promise. These are times when you need a friend, a place of refuge from the cares of life. You can find such a place in Jesus.
2. Psalms 27:5 "For in the time of trouble he shall ___________ me in his pavilion: in the ____________ of his tabernacle shall he hide me...." Here on earth, the pavilion of the Lord, the place where we can hide, is the time when we are alone with God in prayer. Another name for pavilion is shelter.
3. Psalms 31:20 "Thou shalt __________ them in the ______________ of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them ____________ in a pavilion from the strife of tongues."
4. Psalms 32:7 “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt ___________ me from __________...." The promise is given in Psalms 17:8 that we can go to Him and he will do what? "...hide me under the _____________ of the ____________,"
5. In Psalms 91:2 it says, "I will say of the LORD, He is my ___________ and my __________: my God; in h im will I _________." There is no better helper than our God.
6. Isaiah 26:3, 4 where do we turn to for strength? "...the LORD JEHOVAH is ____________ strength:" Psalms 62:5-8 (read) verse 6 "He only is my ___________ and my _________: He is my __________; I shall not be __________." See also Isaiah 12:2.
"Angels help and protect those who walk humbly before God; never will our Lord betray one who trusts in Him. As His children draw near to Him for protection from evil, in pity and love He lifts up for them the standard against the enemy. Touch them not, he says; for they are mine. I have graven them upon the palms of my hands." Prophets and kings 571
7. We can take courage from Psalms 91:3. The world is full of dangers of all kind. But our heavenly Father declares that He will protect us. "Surely He shall deliver thee from the __________ of the fowler...." The fowler goes out to catch the little birds, and he uses a wire snare to entrap them. Satan is like the fowler, he sets traps to cause us to fall into his evil plans. But with God’s help we don’t need to be snared by his evil plans.
8. Psalms 124:1-3, 7 But what if we are trapped? Verse 7 "Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the ____________ of the fowlers." Is there help for those who fall into the snare of the Devil? Yes. Last part of verse 7 “...The snare is _________, and we are _________.”
9. 2 Timothy 2:26 “And that they may ___________ themselves out of the snare of the ___________, who are taken captive by him at his will."
10. Remember, God is our hiding place, there is no other. Psalms 91:4 "He shall cover thee with His _________, and under His __________ shalt thou trust...." Read a good illustration in Matthew 23:37 and Deuteronomy 32:10-12; Psalms 146:5,6 These tell how we are protected from Satan’s snares. What is our part in this? Psalms 91:4 (last part) "...His _________ shalt be thy _______ and buckler." We need to study God’s word, searching for more and more truth. God protects those who love and want to obey Him. His truth is our shield.
11. Psalms 91:5 is there need for fear? No! Even in the troubles of the last days, there is no need for fear. In Noah’s day the earth was full of violence, sin abounds on every hand, but God protected Noah and his family. Here is a promise for us. Psalms 91:5. "Thou shalt not be _________ for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;" We see another promise of protection from the sun by day (heat) moon by night (cold). Read in Psalms 121:6
12. I like the promise in Isaiah 43:2 “When thou passeth through the _________; I will be with thee; and though the rivers, they shall not _________ thee. When thou walkest through the _________, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” That is a good promise to claim.
13. As we see the evils of these last days, here is another promise we need to learn for memory and keep in our hearts. "He shall not be ________ of ________ tidings: His heart is ______, trusting in The Lord." Psalms 112:7 I am so thankful that I don’t need to be afraid of all the terror in the world. I can trust in God for protection.
